The 2016 Wedding Cake Challenge

Sugar Treat started in July 2015 and we did our first wedding cake in October 2015.
One of our goals for 2016 is to have at least one wedding cake per month.

Why one wedding cake per month? Because we want to take over the world with our buttercream covered cakes and put an end to the fondant supremacy!

We want to allow more happy couples to have a delicious and elegant homemade cake without having to break the bank. And let’s face it, buttercream taste better than fondant!

JANUARY
Naked 2 tier cake for reception on the 23rd at the Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club
Bottom tier : 9 inches x 5 inches tall, vanilla cake

FEBRUARY
Caramel 2 tier square cake for reception on the 2oth at La Piazza Waterfront Restaurant

MARCH
We had a booking for a surprise wedding booked but unfortunately they cancelled it a few days before.

APRIL
We have 5 wedding cakes this month! That makes up for March!
1. Two tier white chocolate mud cake with raspberry swirl for reception on the 1st at the Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise

3. Two tier vanilla cake for reception on the 23rd at St Bernards Hotel in Mount Tambourine (the delivery up the step hills and winding road was quite laborious!!)

4. Tree tier semi naked chocolate cake for reception on the 24th at Braeside Chapel in Merrimac (the delivery was much easier than the day before!)

JUNE
We have 2 wedding cakes again this month!
1. Two tier semi naked cake for reception in Beaudesert (guests picked up the cake)
Bottom tier : 9 inches x 6 inches tall
Top tier : 7 inches x 6 inches tall
Vanilla cake, passion fruit buttercream filling and vanilla buttercream on the outside. This is a very naked as the bride was adding the decorations! See the cake with flowers here.

2. Three tier semi naked gold cake for reception at Ecostudio Fellini in Mudgeeraba
Bottom tier : 12 inches x 4 inches tall, chocolate & orange cake, orange buttercream. Airbrushed in gold with a marble effect
Middle tier : 10 inches x 4 inches tall, coconut & white chocolate, coconut buttercream. Airbrushed with a touch of gold
Top tier : 8 inches x 4 inches tall, vanilla with vanilla buttercream. Airbrushed with a touch of gold

JULY
We have 3 wedding cakes over 2 week ends!
1. Three tier cake with a cascade of hamdmade sugar flowers for reception at the Pacific Surf Life Saving Club 
Bottom tier : 9 inches x 7 inches tall, strawberry cake
Middle tier : 7 inches x 4 inches tall, with gold ribbon, white chocolate mud cake
Top tier : 5 inches x 3 inches tall, chocolate mud cake
All vanilla buttercream on the outside.

WHAT’S NEXT?
There are only 4 months in the year when we don’t have a booking for a wedding cake: March, July, October and November. * UPDATE * One month after we wrote this post (in February) we booked more cakes! We now only have the month of November without a wedding cake (a few quotes pending though). If you know someone getting married this year, please share our page. We are always happy to send a free quote! We take up to 3 wedding cake order per week (depending on the size).

OUR HOME MADE WEDDING CAKE
In 2012, a friend made our wedding cake because we couldn’t afford one (it’s the amaretto and chocolate one below). All from scratch. It tasted and looked amazing!

If you think you cannot afford a wedding cake, please contact us. We can work out something within your budget. You can order a surprise design cake in the colours to suit your wedding theme. We offer a great price on those surprise design because we want to build a portfolio with different styles.

Our first wedding cake in 2015 was this vanilla swirls with purple ribbon. And guess what was the flavour? Purple velvet!

We also did a friend’s wedding cupcake tower in October 2013, before there was even any plans for Sugar Treat. There was 100 of them! The theme was peacock feather. They are edible prints on rice paper.
