Christina Tosi’s Ice Cream Drizzle Recipe

Ingredients

Chocolate:

  • 1 C. chocolate chips
  • 3 Tbsp. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening or Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • pinch salt
  • 1-2 tsp. flavor boosts: extracts, syrups, spices, optional

Cinnamon Butterscotch:

  • 1 C. butterscotch chips
  • 3 Tbsp. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening or Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1½ tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
  • pinch salt

Mint White Chocolate:

  • 1 C. white chocolate chips
  • 3 Tbsp. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening or Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tsp. peppermint extract
  • pinch salt

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, melt chocolate and fat together- I like to do this in 30 second bursts in the microwave stirring between each blast (a double boiler works, too).
  2. Optional: Stir in spice and/or extract and/or salt until smooth. Taste and adjust where needed.
  3. Add more chips to make thicker and richer, fat to make thinner, flavor boosts and salt to sharpen depth and personality.
  4. Ladle, spoon or squeeze bottle over ice cream, feel free to add crumbs, crunches, cereal, candy- whatever is shouting to you from your pantry to tell a flavor story or complete your masterpiece. Store the Ice Cream Drizzle in a jar or airtight container in the pantry or fridge, warming slightly before use.
